Tankless water heaters on the news?
Thanks to tax rebates and energy savings, today’s tankless hot water heaters are just as affordable as their conventional tank-storage counterparts. Two recent segments on ABC television explained how going tankless can save consumers in the long run. Newer heaters, designed for smaller households, such as the NRC661 from Noritz America, offer savings in installation time, tax credits and energy rebates.
KTVX-TV (Salt Lake City) consumer reporter Ric Romero and plumber Brandon Duncan explained on “Today’s Daily Dish” how one person can install the lightweight heater in less than half the time of conventional tank-style heaters. Consumers also receive a $300 Federal Tax Credit, a $350 tax rebate from local utility provider, Questar, and savings of up to 42 percent on their gas water heating bill. The NRC661 was also featured on KGO-TV’s (San Francisco) in a segment with “7 On Your Side’s” Michael Finney about new tankless water heaters and the savings that make them affordable up front, and a sensible decision in the long run.
With the tax credit and rebate, the cost of a tankless unit is roughly $1,250, compared to the cost of a 75-gallon tank, which could run between $1,300 -$1,500 with installation.
